This is a special New year token. It is used in tradition to bake a coin in a cake during New year holidays. Usually it has gold color and images of a gold sovereign that was the largest common currency at the country. The sovereigns are common gold coins in the Island nowadays. That is the reason to make New year token of the type of a real gold coin. This token is especially interesting, not just for posthumous issue of George V (1910-1936), and not for the introduction of yet unpublished till now the year 1971. It bears date on the Obv. only. But what makes it outstanding is the alloy. It is not of yellow color at all: this token has white color with some black spots. More over it is magnetic!

The possible reconstruction looks like that: the regular tokens in gold color were issued each year. Then it was deciced to switch to cheaper alloy and simultaneously (?) the Rev. die was simplified, this time there is no date there any more. This 1971 is an example of such switch. Later it was found out that the yellow color should be restored and the 1972 token is again of yellow alloy but it inherited the idea of Rev. without date.
