Serbian Sacral Architecture

Ruins of the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi, donations of Grand Duke Stefan Nemanja. The complex, consisting of the Church of St. George, refectory, living quarters, cistern and walls with an entrance tower, was built in the eighth decade of the 12th century. A single-nave temple with a three-part altar space, a nave with side porches and a vestibule framed by two towers, its appearance reveals the spirit of Western, Romanesque architecture
