Singer Sewing Machine Spain Sevilla Costumes All Nations Trade Card 1892

A seated woman in elaborate Andalusian dress works a Singer treadle machine while a guitarist in traditional Sevillian attire looks on, in this 1892 card from Singer's "Costumes of All Nations" series — 36 chromolithographs distributed in boxed sets during the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Historic New England holds examples of this same series in its permanent collection.
