korrespondierendes Mitglied der Pariser Académie des sciences,
veröffentlichte 1745 und 1754 (seine) tier- und pflanzenphysiologische
Werke: zuerst die Abhandlungen aus der Insektologie in zwei Bänden
(deutsch 1773-1774, französisch 1745) – unter anderem über die
Regenerationsfähigkeit von Würmern, ein Thema, das er in seinen Œuvres
d’histoire naturelle et de philosophie (1779-1783) weiterführte –, dann
die Untersuchungen über den Nutzen der Blätter bey den Pflanzen (deutsch
1762, französisch 1754), Vorarbeiten zur Photosynthese der Pflanzen
(Botanik)“ (G. Luginbühl-Weber in HLS) und gilt damit als einer der
Väter der modernen Biologie. – „Bonnet is considered one of the fathers
of modern biology. He is distinguished for both his experimental
research and his philosophy, which exerted a profound influence upon the
naturalists of the 18th and 19th centuries… in the „Recherches…“ Bonnet
grouped five memoires all of which were of prime importance for plant
biology… for to investigate experimentally the question of

plant physiology. – The Swiss philosopher and natural scientist C.
Bonnet (1720-1793), the youngest corresponding member of the Paris
Académie des sciences since 1740 at Réaumur’s suggestion, published
(his) works on animal and plant physiology in 1745 and 1754: ’first the
Abhandlungen aus der Insektologie in two volumes (German 1773-1774,
French 1745) – among other things on the regenerative capacity of worms,
a subject he continued in his Œuvres d’histoire naturelle et de
philosophie (1779-1783) –, then the Untersuchungen über den Nutzen der
Blätter bey den Pflanzen (German 1762, French 1754), Vorarbeiten zur
Photosynthese der Pflanzen (Botanik)’ (G. Luginbühl-Weber in HLS) and is
thus considered one of the fathers of modern biology. – Binding
